There’s nothing sweeter than Summer

Today we want to share Summer’s story, the photogenic pup with a picture-perfect ending.

Summer came to HSNEGA in December with her litter of puppies. Skin and bones, she was exhausted from making sure her young ones were taken care of.

Frightened by the sounds going on around her, Summer took a few weeks to earn the trust of our staff and volunteers. After spending some time in our Bark Park, she quickly came around and transformed into a ray of sunshine.

But she just couldn’t understand why her puppies found their FURever homes and she hadn’t…

Determined to find a family, Summer learned how to strike a signature pose for the camera. She even liked to sit at the adoption center desk with one ear flopped, catching the eye of everyone walking through.

One day Summer did more than just catch someone’s eye, she left a pawprint on their heart, too.

Cathy, who suddenly lost her precious furry friend the month prior, was heartbroken. The winter was cold and lonely, but with Summer came warmth and companionship.

Summer was the sunshine that Cathy needed.
