Season of Saves: Lieutenant Dan
As we move into our ‘Season of Saves’ we’re taking the opportunity to look back at some of the most heart-warming stories that YOU made possible.
Stories like this one. How your enduring love for animals, through thick and thin, turned being ‘differently-abled’ into one rescue’s greatest superpower…
When Lieutenant Dan saw us through kennel bars, his eyes danced with delight. Balanced on the two little stumps where his legs once were, his whole back end wagged — are you here to take me home?
Of course, Lieutenant Dan (Lt. Dan) didn’t know it, but he was in trouble…
With animal control’s doors closed for the lockdown, and him falling firmly into the ‘hard to home’ category, the simple truth is this — if not for YOU, Lt. Dan wouldn’t be here today.
But with YOU in his corner, this perfectly imperfect prince came to us at HSNEGA. And here, he grabbed the precious second chance you gave him with his two remaining paws.
It’s easy to feel sorry for Lt. Dan, but if you saw him zooming about on his front legs, you’d see he doesn’t feel sorry for himself… not one bit.
He gets around so well, a wheelchair would just slow him down!
For being a lifeline for dogs like Lt. Dan during the pandemic and beyond, and for all of the rescues whose story would have ended tragically if not for your support — THANK YOU!
Give with Confidence
At HSNEGA, we want to remember the amazing rescues that come to stay with us. All of the animals pictured on this site have been with us at some point. Some have already found their forever homes, but some may still be here at HSNEGA!
