PAWsitive energy truly spreads!

Today, we want to show how YOUR support helps the rescues overcome fear, anxiety, or stress and live their best lives…
HSNEGA strives to keep our rescues emotionally healthy while they wait for their FURever homes. When animals have good emotional health, they are able to effectively enjoy their everyday lives.

But Billy wouldn’t budge.

At first, this gentle boy who was experiencing anxiety was too shy to even come out of the kennel for his adoption photo. Nervous from faint barking he heard through the walls, Billy only liked to be pet while inside his kennel to relieve stress. Billy was trying to open up, but something deep down was holding him back…

…Until the perfect pair walked in.

“Mykonos (formerly Billy) was a very shy guy, but he immediately took to my fiancé. It was mutual love at first sight. I don’t even think my fiancé looked at any of the other cats once Mykonos decided he wanted to be friends. His progress has been astounding! He’s discovered the joys of catnip and endless pets. He cannot seem to get enough attention and he is doing so very well at adjusting to his new normal.” ~Nicole, HSNEGA Lifesaver and Mykonos’s new PAWrent.

Mykonos now has a hand to hold forever.

Another ‘Happy Tail’ that touched our hearts was the story of Poseidon.

Sweet as can be, Poseidon could not understand why he had been at the shelter for over seven months. He was wary around men, but learning how to trust more with our staff’s help. Overcoming fear has been his biggest accomplishment, and he could not have done it without his PAWrent Lacey, who is also a HSNEGA Volunteer.

His hope was all but lost when Lacey walked into his life.

“It has taken Poseidon a month and a half, of every day slowly getting a little bit closer to my husband. He loves dogs, so this has been killing him being so patient waiting on Poseidon to open up. He has been so excited, for the past two weeks Poseidon has come to him for love. We are so lucky that we found him! He is such a great addition to our family.” ~Lacey, HSNEGA Lifesaver and Poseidon’s PAWrent.

Poseidon now enjoys every day with his mom and dad, doggy siblings, and he even has kids of his own to snuggle up to every night.
