New Year, New You?

New year, new you. Does that phrase sound familiar? New Year’s resolutions come and go every January 1 and, according to Psychology Today, the most popular resolutions are losing weight and exercising more. Yet by January 2, most people have already fallen short of their goal. So rather than spending $30 on a gym membership, here are some suggestions for using that $30 towards SAVING LIVES!

Become an HSNEGA Volunteer!

Dreading the boring treadmill but want to get your steps in?  Walking dogs at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia not only provides the rescues with PAWsitive enrichment and socialization, but it’s also a great way for YOU to break out of the mundane treadmill routine! It’s also a great way to get the steps in for the new FitBit you just got for Christmas! Better yet, it’s not $30 per month like a gym membership. The $30 administrative fee is one-time and gets you a nifty HSNEGA volunteer t-shirt, apron and nametag!

Other than taking the rescues for walks you can run, jump and play with the rescues in the HSNEGA Bark Park! During the warmer months, there are pools for the rescues to play in and, year-round, there are toys and enrichment obstacles for you and the rescues to enjoy. The best part of a rescue’s day is going for walks, playing in the Bark Park and spending time with YOU. Be the person the rescues think you are while becoming a healthier YOU and become a HSNEGA volunteer today!

Host a Slumber PAWty

Is your resolution to reduce stress? Consider hosting a Slumber PAWty (foster sleepover program)!

Studies, such as this one from Maddie’s Fund, show sleepovers can give rescues the same benefits as a long weekend away from work for humans. It raises their cortisol levels, relaxes them and even helps provide additional information on a rescues temperament. Which helps them get adopted!

Slumber PAWties require a minimum of a 2-night “sleepover” and are only available for fully vaccinated adult animals.

Take a Rescue on an ExPAWdition!

Keep your New Years’ fitness resolutions by signing up for an HSNEGA ExPAWdition! This program allows you to take an approved HSNEGA rescue out for the day. Consider taking a rescue out for a walk around town, on a hike or even just taking them home to relax. Email Foster@HSNEGA.org for more information!

Become an Adoption Angel!

Want to help an animal waiting for adoption at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia while they wait for a forever home? Then become an ADOPTION ANGEL! This program helps provide care for rescues who have been at HSNEGA for extended periods of time. Rescues, like Mollie, who was at HSNEGA for over a year. That was a year she spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s at HSNEGA, alone and without a family before finding her FURever home.

By becoming an Adoption Angel, you will not only change the life of the rescue you sponsor but the lives of many others in desperate need. Your gift will provide a warm, safe place to sleep; nourishing food and yummy treats; critical medical care; and a second chance at happiness for animals who have nowhere else to go. Plus, when you become an Adoption Animal, you will receive regular updates on the impact you are making every day for animals in need as well as updates on your sponsored rescue.

Become a Life Saver Circle Member!

You’d give a gym $30 a month, so why not choose to SAVE LIVES monthly instead? By giving just $30 a month, you’ll be giving less than $1 a day to change the life of a rescue. You’ll help rescues like Beau who had spent two New Year’s with HSNEGA before finding his FURever family last year!

By becoming a Life Saver Circle member you become more than a supporter… YOU become the assurance that homeless and abandoned rescues in our community receive the shelter, food and care they need. Your monthly donation can bring hope to the thousands of animals that are served by HSNEGA each year, and help many more obtain a chance for a family to love, perhaps the first they’ve ever known. Make this New Year, and every year, brighter and become a member of the Life Saver Circle TODAY!

At HSNEGA, we want to remember the amazing rescues that come to stay with us. All of the animals pictured on this site have been with us at some point.
