The King of Comebacks

You’re just a few months old and you finally settle into your first ‘real’ home. Everything seems to be going great, until one day, you start to feel a strange sensation on your back… it grows. Then it grows some more… soon, you’re completely consumed with the pain and itch that seemingly came out of nowhere. This is how King’s story began.

King arrived at HSNEGA with his siblings ready to find their FURever homes. Being a puppy, it didn’t take long for a family to scoop him up. When rescues arrive at HSNEGA, they are examined and receive all the care needed to ensure they are in their best shape before being sent home with an adopter.

At some point, King’s new adopters gave him a topical medication, most likely a flea and tick preventative, that didn’t quite sit with him. He had an allergic reaction resulting in a wound that would be considered a ‘chemical burn.’ Just like it sounds… this was quite painful for poor King. His adopters frantically rushed him to HSNEGA where they knew he would be well cared for!

Thankfully for King, this is not the first run in our vet has had with this particular injury in her 20+ years of shelter experience. She knew just what to do and began the process of cleaning and caring for his wounds immediately.

Within weeks, King’s condition began to turn around and he was on the road to recovery!

Once his wounds were healed enough, he was ready for his next adventure – finding a FURever home. And he did! Not even 48 hours after he was available for adoption, his family came to bring him home. Now, King is happy, healthy, and in a loving home where he will live out his days with cuddles, kisses, and most importantly, LOVE!

Give with Confidence

At HSNEGA, we want to remember the amazing rescues that come to stay with us. All of the animals pictured on this site have been with us at some point. Some have already found their forever homes, but some may still be here at HSNEGA!
