Happy Tails: Mr. Puff’s Story

It’s hard to imagine that a simple bath could be so meaningful.

But for Oliver (formerly known as Mr. Puff) baths are a big deal.

You see, even something as simple as going to the bathroom was once a very difficult task for this innocent soul.

Oliver was born with a genetic anomaly, one that without surgery, was life-threatening. This particular anomaly caused urine to accumulate under his skin, killing the surrounding tissue and creating infections.

While HSNEGA’s Veterinarians were able to remove some of the dead skin and tissue, Oliver required an additional $5,000 dollar surgery to save his life.

A surgery YOU made possible.

With the help of generous donors, and the talented veterinarians at the University of Georgia’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, this courageous puppy was able to get the surgery he needed. The best part? Shortly after his surgery, he found his FURever home!

A home where he gets to enjoy the simple things in life that were impossible without your help, like taking baths and playing with his new sibling!

“During the pandemic, my husband and I decided we wanted to get a friend for our dog Tucker. We wanted to make sure we were adopting a dog in need, and if it was a special needs pup even better! I’m a former zookeeper so the task of taking care of special pups was one I was wanting to take on.

As soon as we saw the HSNEGA post about Mr Puff (now Oliver) I knew he had to be ours. When I met him at the shelter I knew he’d be the perfect fit for our family, and he has been since day one!

He is now best friends with our older dog Tucker and is spoiled with toys and peanut butter Kongs.” ~ Oliver’s Adopter

Thank you for showing Oliver all the joy that life can bring!
