Happy Tail: Thomas’ Story

Meet Thomas.

Emaciated and too tired to stand up and play, when Thomas arrived at HSNEGA he was just skin and bones. He was starving

Unlike his fellow rescues, Thomas spent most of his time in the Bark Park laying on the ground; he was too weak to play or stretch his legs during what would normally be a joyous time spent outside of his kennel. But with YOUR support and the love of HSNEGA volunteers, Thomas began to slowly gain weight and smile again.

As he put on weight and became stronger, Thomas’ belly wasn’t the only thing that became full. Thanks to one HSNEGA volunteer, his heart and soul would soon be bursting with more love than he could have ever imagined

“I started volunteering at the shelter in August 2021, and shortly after a sweet dog named Thomas was returned from his foster family. I remember him because the day he was put in adoptions he was pacing, breathing very heavily, and I could hear him over all the other dogs. I was worried sick. Some days he was fine, and others he wasn’t. I saw him doing this again and ask to bring him home to foster a couple of nights. This turned into a couple of weeks. My husband really didn’t want another dog after losing our dog 6 months earlier, but when I told him I had to take him back he was up and ready to make him ours

… Thomas is the biggest dog we’ve ever owned and one of the sweetest ever. He’s never had one bit of anxiety in our home. He is an older dog, and so very smart with lots of spunk too. He saved me from the heartbreak of losing one of our other dogs, and we saved him from being alone in a kennel. We love him so much and are thankful to be there for him the way he is for us. Thank you HSNEGA for saving them, and giving us a great blessing for many years to come.” ~ Becky, HSNEGA Volunteer and Thomas’ new PAWrent.
