Happy Tail: Tasha Jefferson’s Story

Meet Tasha Jefferson.

This sweet girl searched near and far to find her perfect FURever home, and her journey to get there wasn’t an easy one. After numerous failed adoptions, a family of her own seemed too good to be true…

“What am I doing wrong!? Why doesn’t anyone love me?” she wondered.

While we all knew Tasha wasn’t doing anything wrong, and that she was in fact VERY lovable, it would take some time before she could see this for herself.

You see, Tasha Jefferson was transferred in as a puppy to HSNEGA with her siblings, and like many puppies, she was adopted shortly after to her first family. When that didn’t work out, Tasha came back feeling defeated. After a few weeks, she was adopted to what she thought would be her saving grace, but then things went south (literally). When caring for her became too much for her new family to handle, they made the difficult decision to surrender her to a Humane Society in Northern Florida.

When HSNEGA was notified of her whereabouts, our AMAZING team rushed into action and drove down to Florida to bring her home. Tasha was now back at a place she knew with people she loved, but she remained hopeful that her FURever family was still out there waiting for her.

Then, it happened.

Her delicate personality left a pawprint on one amazing family’s heart.

“We were sold and simply had to meet Tasha Jefferson. We wanted to be discerning and intentional- but do you see those eyes? HSNEGA dutifully told us of the challenges she gave the prior families. Wait, but seriously, did you see those eyes? They made us want her even more! We knew what love and discipline could do for a rescue. We tore ourselves away and returned with our full multi-generational home for a meet and greet…

… With one mighty hop, Tasha climbed into our backseat and our hearts like she was meant for us all along. We watched as she would nuzzle an apology, tell you where she had an accident, or self-soothe by willingly taking a snooze in her kennel. She has a ways to go and is learning manners every day… but frankly, so do we. Her tale was sordid before us, but she’s home now. Her past will not determine her future and the best days are ahead.
