Adopt a Shelter Dog Month 2018 : Hairy Pawter

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and HSNEGA is celebrating with the theme, Hairy Pawter! The HSNEGA Large Dog Adotion Center has turned into Dogwarts and throughout the month each rescue will be sorted into one of the four Dogwarts houses: Gryffindog, Hufflefluff, Slobberin, and Ravenpaw. As you enter the Dogwarts Adoption Center you’ll notice special cards displayed on each rescue’s kennel. These cards signify which house the rescue has been sorted in and what traits their house is known for. Each house will also be in the running to win the House Bowl which will be announced at the end of the month! The House Bowl is a friendly competition between the four houses where rescues will earn points for things like being a playgroup rock star, knowing basic commands like sit, being cute and lovable, and being friendly and playful. Keep an eye out on special Facebook posts and Instagram stories (@humanesocietynega) for fun pictures and videos of which rescues have earned points! The rescues solemnly swear they’ll be up to something good! There will also be fun surprises and giveaways like BarkBoxes! Not to mention adoption fees for dogs 4 months and older are $25 off for all of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!!

Why adopt a rescue in Gryffindog?

Titan – Gryffindog
Rose – Ravenpaw

Gryffindogs are courageous, daring, brave and chivalrous. They are bold but modest about it. Gryffindogs will stand up for you and will always have your back. Gryffindogs are always up for some fun and make excellent adventure buddies!

Why adopt a rescue in Hufflefluff?

Hufflefluffs are hard workers, patient, just, and loyal. They might be shy or unique. Hufflefluffs might need a little more love and attention but they are devoted and will be your best friend for life. Just be ready for lots of belly rubs and kisses!

Why adopt a rescue in Slobberin?

Slobberins are ambitious, cunning, leaders, and are resourceful. They like to show off a little because they know what they’re good at and don’t mind being the center of attention. They’re natural born leaders and do best when they feel in check with their surroundings.

Why adopt a rescue in Ravenpaw?⠀

Ravenpaws are smart, creative, fast learners, and witty. They love to show you their improvements and what they’ve learned at any chance given. Ravenpaws can also be quite quirky making them one-of-a-kind.
