Surrender & Rehome
You are your pet’s best hope for a new home.
Below, you will find two great resources for rehoming your pet. We urge you to use BOTH resources to increase the chance of finding your pet a new home, so he or she does not have to enter a shelter.
Believe it or not, you are your pet’s best option for finding a new home. Some people think shelters or rescue groups would be best for placing your pet because we have experience, facilities, screening guidelines, etc. However, an individual, particularly one who knows the animal, can focus all their efforts on that pet, provide the most information to prospective adopters, and best determine the appropriateness of a new home.
Also, shelters are extremely stressful for animals. The shelter setting, no matter how nice it is, can bring on stress-related problems. Anxiety, aggression, and even illness are common, and these natural reactions may make adoption difficult or impossible. If you decide that you do need to rehome your pet, we want to help YOU become your pet’s best advocate for finding a home.
From One Good Home to Another!

Lost or found an animal?
Found Animals
Contact Local Shelters
Under state law, it is illegal for 501(c)(3) nonprofits to take in found, abandoned, or stray pets. Report a found animal to Hall County Animal Services or HSNEGA, and shelter staff will enter your information and the animal’s information into a database. The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will reach out once there is space available at its facility to take in the animal.
Search Online and Social Media
Be sure to check Facebook for missing animals in your area. There are several “lost and found” groups that post missing and found pets. Websites such as Petfinder, Nextdoor, Fido Finder, Petco Love Lost, and Craigslist are also helpful resources for reporting lost and found pets.
Post Flyers and Get Support
Post flyers in the vicinity of where the animal was found. Lost Dogs Georgia, in partnership with Pet FBI, will create a flyer suitable for print and online sharing, as well as create an online report and provide additional support for you.
