ExPAWditions

ExPAWditions are a great way to get our dogs out of the shelter to enjoy a day of fun on a doggie field trip.

Ways to Enjoy Time with a Shelter Animal:

  • Go on a hike

  • Go for a walk in the park

  • Go paddleboarding

  • Watch a movie while rubbing a belly

  • Take them for a ride on your boat

  • Take them to meet your friends

  • Enjoy a cup of coffee at a coffee shop

  • Eat at a dog friendly restaurant

  • HAVE FUN!

Dogs can be picked up any day after 9:30am and brought back by 4pm. The Foster & Animal Care Advocate will need a copy of your driver’s license and a signed agreement on file before the outing. You must be able to provide safe transportation for the rescue and must practice safe handling techniques to ensure the safety of the rescue and others. If you are interested in taking a rescue on an exPAWdition, contact Foster@HSNEGA.org.

Must be at least 18 years old to sign up for an exPAWdition, however, children ages 8-17 can participate as long as they are with a guardian.

Mutual Rescue’s Doggy Day Out (DDO) National Directory

Our very own ExPAWdition program, launched in 2019, is now listed in Mutual Rescue’s Doggy Day Out (DDO) National Directory!

This nationwide initiative connects the public with adoptable dogs for short-term foster “field trips” outside the shelter. Even just one hour outside the shelter can profoundly change a dog’s life, boosting their spirits and increasing their chances of adoption. Join us in giving our pups a much-needed break and showing them the world beyond their kennel!
