Adoption Fees

Adoption fees at HSNEGA vary depending on the animal. HSNEGA’s general adoption fees are listed below. Rescue/adoption efforts cost more than the fees and adopters are welcome to donate in addition to the adoption fee to help the homeless pets still waiting to be adopted.

DOGS

All dogs, at a minimum, are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and bordetella (kennel cough), heartworm tested and/or started on heartworm preventative medication, microchipped, treated for fleas and ticks and dewormed. Each adoption includes 30 days of free pet insurance. If provided in a veterinary office, these services would average $400 per pet.

• Adult Dog (6+ months): $100
• Adolescent Dog (3 to 6 months): $150
• Puppy (under 3 months): $200
• Senior Dog (7+ years): $50
• Dog Buddies (2 dogs/puppies): $25 off total (excludes Adoption Guarantee Fund Dogs & Puppies)
• Adoption Guarantee Fund Dogs & Puppies (see below): $150-$350+

CATS

All cats, at a minimum, are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, feline distemper/calici/ panleukopenia/rhinotracheitis, microchipped, blood tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and/or FIV, treated for fleas and ticks and dewormed. Each adoption includes 30 days of free pet insurance premium. If provided in a veterinary office, these services would average $300 per pet.

• Adolescent (3 to 6 months): $100
• Kitten (under 3 months): $150
• Cat Buddies (2 cats/kittens): $25 off total (excludes Adoption Guarantee Fund Cats & Kittens)
• Senior Cat (7+ years): $35
• Adoption Guarantee Fund Cats & Kittens (see below): $125-$250+

HSNEGA sometimes has other companion animals available for adoption, such as rabbits and guinea pigs, who’s adoption fee will vary.

ADOPTION GUARANTEE FUND ANIMALS

Adoption Guarantee Fund animals are likely to be adopted very quickly and, as such, have a higher adoption fee. These animals enable HSNEGA to care for all adoptable animals in our care no matter how long their stay might be.

PET INSURANCE

HSNEGA, in partnership with 24PetWatch Pet Insurance Programs, provides a 30-day gift of pet insurance for your newly adopted pet; covering up to $750 of selected treatments (with a one-time deductible of $75).

The insurance must be confirmed within 7 days of the adoption for the policy to be valid – there are 3 ways to confirm – email, phone, web. 24PetWatch Pet Insurance Programs will send an email with an activation link and policy documents once the adoption is complete.

If the adopter has not received an email from 24PetWatch Pet Insurance Programs within 48 hours of adopting their new pet, they should alert their Adoption Counselor to have their email resent.

There is a 2 day waiting period from the point of adoption to when the policy takes effect.

PLEASE NOTE: Adoptable animals over 10 years of age are not eligible to receive insurance benefits through this program.
